Palestinian political groups condemn the assassination of Abdul Rahman Abu al-Muna by Palestinian Authority forces, calling it a dangerous escalation and an act of betrayal against the resistance.
On Monday evening, Palestinian Authority forces shot and killed Abdul Rahman Abu al-Muna in Jenin during the ongoing Israeli aggression on the city. According to media reports, the PA forces blocked the road to al-Muna at the Al-Naseem roundabout in Jenin, surrounded him, and shot him at close range.
According to Quds News Network, al-Muna, known as “D-Nine,” was one of the most prominent resistance figures in Jenin.
The Committee of Families of Political Detainees in the West Bank issued a statement condemning the killing, noting that while the Israeli occupation continues its assault, the PA’s forces have actively pursued and targeted those resisting the occupation. They called the act a heinous crime that further undermines Palestinian unity and sacrifices. The Committee urged Palestinians to stand firm against the ongoing oppression and to unite in protecting the resistance.
Palestinian political groups also strongly condemned the assassination.
The Palestinian Authority’s Missteps and the Need for a New Path Forward – Analysis
The Palestinian Resistance Movement Hamas stated that the continued direct targeting of Palestinian resistance fighters by the PA’s security services marks a “dangerous escalation.”
They emphasized that the murder of Abu al-Muna—who had been wanted by the Israeli occupation—is part of a wider, ongoing policy of repressing Palestinian resistance. Hamas highlighted the grim reality of the PA’s security forces, accusing them of perpetuating a bloody, repressive strategy that undermines Palestinian unity.
They further warned of the grave consequences these actions could have, not only on the situation in Jenin but also on the larger Palestinian struggle.
Hamas called for “immediate intervention by national factions, human rights organizations, and popular groups within the West Bank to stop the bloodshed,” urging everyone to direct their efforts toward resisting the occupation rather than targeting the resistance.
The Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement also issued a statement condemning the assassination of Abu al-Muna. They described it as a heinous and cold-blooded crime that marks “a new low in the Palestinian Authority’s role in security coordination with the Israeli occupation.”
25 Days of Palestinian Authority Violence – What is Happening in Jenin?
They noted that the PA’s security services have consistently targeted Palestinian resistance fighters, and their coordination with the occupation places them in direct collaboration with Israel.
The Movement stressed that this policy of repression and assassination not only “serves the Israeli occupation but also weakens the Palestinian cause by dismantling the resistance front.”
They called on all Palestinian groups, movements, and free people across the occupied West Bank to take a unified stance against these crimes and end the “ongoing cycle of violence and betrayal.”
The Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine joined in the condemnation, pointing out the timing of the incident—while the occupation continues its brutal aggression on Jenin, particularly in its camp, and the world watches as the situation grows direr.
The Front criticized the Palestinian Authority’s actions, stressing that they represent “a significant setback in the national struggle.”
