Hamas calls for mass rallies in support of Aqsa Mosque and Palestinian prisoners

The Hamas Movement has called for staging massive rallies next Friday to protest the ongoing closure of the Aqsa Mosque and support Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails.

In a statement on Wednesday, Hamas urged the Palestinian masses everywhere and the Arab and Muslim nations to rise up on Friday, April 3, 2026, in defense of the Aqsa Mosque and in support of Palestinian prisoners.

“The Aqsa Mosque is being closed in the face of its people, and gallows are being prepared for the prisoners,” the Movement underlined.

The Israeli Knesset passed a law on Monday making death by hanging an exclusive sentence for Palestinians, who are accused of carrying out resistance operations in defense of their own people and land.

The Israeli racist law has been sharply criticized as discriminatory by European countries and rights groups.

Meanwhile, the Israeli occupation authority (IOA) has continued to bar Muslim worshipers from entering the Aqsa Mosque for the 33rd consecutive day, citing security pretexts linked to its war on Iran to justify the closure of the holy site.

The closure of the Aqsa Mosque persists amid a heavy deployment of Israeli forces and police checkpoints throughout the Old City, which remains accessible only to Palestinian residents of its neighborhoods.
