A video of Palestinian university students taking exams on Gaza’s shores has sparked widespread social media interaction, in the midst of the unprecedented collapse of the educational sector in the Gaza Strip due to the Israeli war.

Activists have circulated the video accompanied by poetic verses reflecting the spirit of defiance and resilience among Palestinians in Gaza.

The video, already circulating online, was reposted by an account named Idris, who commented: “Nothing compares to the steadfastness of the Palestinians. They have not lost hope; rather, they have clung to it despite everything. Today, they are taking their exams on the beach, after losing their schools and buildings.”

“The occupation demolished schools, bombed universities, and destroyed every educational facility, yet it has not broken the spirit of Palestinian students in Gaza, nor will it ever be able to stop their strong quest for knowledge and learning,” another social media participant said.

Many people also posted similar comments on the video, admiring the resilience of Palestinian students in Gaza.

The war-ravaged Gaza Strip is facing a dire educational crisis. Reports confirm that 204 institutions, including 190 schools and 14 universities, have sustained complete destruction, while 305 others are partially damaged, leaving hundreds of thousands of students deprived of their right to education.

According to Gaza’s Government Media Office, more than 12,800 students have been killed, along with 760 teachers and educational staff. In addition, over 785,000 students have been denied the opportunity to continue their studies.
