A high-level delegation from the Hamas Movement arrived on Wednesday evening in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, to follow up on the implementation of the Gaza ceasefire agreement and to hold talks with Egyptian officials.
The delegation, led by Hamas leader Khalil al-Hayya, started its meetings immediately upon arrival with mediators from Egypt, Qatar, and Türkiye.
In its meetings with the mediators, the delegation discussed the latest negotiation developments, stressing the importance of honoring the Sharm esh‑Sheikh agreement and obligating the Israeli occupation government to fulfill its obligations under the first stage.
The delegation also talked about different pressing issues in the Palestinian arena, especially with regard to the humanitarian and security situation in the Gaza Strip, as well as the Israeli violations in Jerusalem, the closure of the Aqsa Mosque, and the Knesset’s recent adoption of a racist law allowing the execution of Palestinian prisoners.
Over the past two days, the delegation held meetings with senior Turkish officials in Ankara City, including foreign minister Hakan Fidan and intelligence chief İbrahim Kalın.
