Palestinian child killed months ago buried in Israeli “cemetery of numbers”

The Israeli public prosecutor has informed the higher court that the body of 14-year-old Wadi Alyan had been buried in a “cemetery of numbers” about five months ago, in response to a new petition submitted to the court.

According to the prosecutor’s reply, the burial took place on October 29, 2025, despite a previous ruling issued by the higher court in August that approved the continued detention of the child’s body.

Alyan was martyred on February 5, 2024, after being shot by Israeli forces at the entrance of al-Eizariya town, east of Occupied Jerusalem. Video footage at the time showed him being shot while lying on the ground.

According to the Wadi Hilweh Information Center, the Israeli occupation authority is holding the bodies of 30 Jerusalemite martyrs, including one retained since October 2016.

Among them are 10 children under 18, the youngest being 14-year-old martyr Wadi Alyan.

“Cemeteries of numbers” are secret burial sites in Israel where the bodies of Palestinians killed by Israeli forces are interred anonymously, marked only by numbered plaques instead of names. Israel has used them since 1967 to hold hundreds of bodies, often without notifying families.
