Several people were killed and wounded in violent clashes between Israeli-backed militias east of Khan Yunis, according to local sources.

The sources said the fighting erupted due to internal disputes among members of these groups, resulting in at least 12 fatalities. Witnesses also reported hearing heavy gunfire in areas under Israeli control east of the city.

Some families of those killed were officially informed of their relatives’ deaths.

In recent months, Israeli forces have organized and armed local proxy groups, allowing them to operate in areas under their control in eastern Gaza. These groups have been accused of carrying out activities ranging from looting aid convoys to targeting resistance fighters, conducting assassinations, and spreading instability.

At least four such groups are believed to be active across eastern Rafah, Khan Yunis, and Gaza City, with intermittent infighting breaking out among them.
