Dozens martyred and wounded in Israeli strikes on Lebanon

At least eight people were martyred and 55 others injured in Israeli airstrikes targeting multiple areas in Lebanon, as Hezbollah announced it had carried out 23 attacks on Israeli targets since early Sunday.

According to the Lebanese National News Agency, an Israeli strike on the Jnah area in Beirut’s southern suburbs killed five people, including a 15-year-old girl and two Sudanese nationals, and wounded 52 others, among them eight children.

Another Israeli airstrike targeted the hills of Ain Saadeh in the Metn district, killing three civilians, including two women, and injuring three others.

These incidents come amid a rising toll from the ongoing Israeli aggression on Lebanon. The Lebanese health ministry said on Sunday that since March 2, at least 1,461 people have been killed and 4,430 injured, with more than one million displaced.

Media reports said Israeli warplanes carried out eight airstrikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs since Sunday morning, targeting neighborhoods including Roueiss, Bir Hassan, Mishrefieh, Hayy Madi, and Jnah.

In response, Hezbollah said it launched 23 attacks against Israeli military targets. Israeli authorities confirmed that a house in the settlement of Shomera was hit, while sirens sounded dozens of times across northern Israel.

Hezbollah also announced targeting an Israeli military vessel 68 nautical miles off the Lebanese coast using a cruise missile.

However, Israel’s Channel 14 claimed the ship was “British” rather than Israeli, though it confirmed the vessel was hit and sustained damage while continuing its mission in the Mediterranean.

The group added that its operations also targeted nine military sites and infrastructure, as well as the settlements of Nahariya and Metula, in addition to gatherings of Israeli soldiers and vehicles in northern Israel and areas in southern Lebanon.

Since March 2, Hezbollah has been engaged in the ongoing regional war in response to continued Israeli attacks on Lebanon, despite a ceasefire agreement in place since November 2024 and the killing of Iranian leader Ali Khamenei.

Israel has expanded its attacks on Lebanon and, since March 3, has launched a ground incursion into southern Lebanon, claiming it aims to establish a security zone free of Hezbollah presence.
