The US-Israeli war on Iran entered its 39th day on Tuesday, with escalating military exchanges and a widening regional conflict, as international warnings grow over mounting humanitarian and security consequences.
US: Threats and conditional escalation
US president Donald Trump renewed his threat to return Iran to the “Stone Age” if it does not agree to a deal before a Tuesday evening deadline (Eastern Time), stressing that no extension would be granted.
Reports citing US officials suggested that a large-scale strike could be delayed if serious signs of an agreement emerge. Meanwhile, US politicians warned that targeting civilian infrastructure could amount to war crimes.
Iran: rejection and continued attacks
Tehran rejected what it described as imposed conditions, emphasizing the need for a permanent end to the war and confirming it had delivered its response through diplomatic channels.
At the same time, Iranian missile and drone attacks toward Israel continued, alongside strikes targeting US interests in the region.
Rescue teams reported recovering bodies from under the rubble following airstrikes on residential areas east of Tehran, with search efforts ongoing for survivors.
Israel: Intensified strikes and security developments
Israeli forces announced a wave of airstrikes targeting sites inside Iran, claiming they hit military infrastructure, as Iranian missile fire continued toward southern Israel, with sirens sounding across multiple areas in the north and south.
Israeli authorities also said four soldiers were arrested on suspicion of spying for Iran, in a notable internal security development.
Lebanon: Expanding front
In southern Lebanon, Israeli airstrikes targeted multiple towns, while Hezbollah said it launched rocket attacks on northern Israeli settlements.
Israeli forces also issued evacuation orders for dozens of towns in southern Lebanon, triggering a new wave of displacement amid worsening humanitarian conditions.
Gulf: Interceptions and alerts
Saudi Arabia announced it had intercepted ballistic missiles targeting its Eastern Province, with debris reported near energy facilities.
The UAE and Bahrain activated air defense systems and warning alerts in response to missile threats, signaling a widening regional risk.
Iraq: Strikes and drone attack
Airstrikes targeted sites linked to the Popular Mobilization Forces in Salah al-Din and Anbar provinces, though casualty figures remain unconfirmed.
Reports also said a drone crashed into a civilian home in Erbil, killing two people.
UN: limited diplomatic movement
The UN Security Council is preparing to vote on a revised resolution focused on securing navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, following amendments driven by Russian and Chinese opposition. The current draft calls for defensive coordination to ensure maritime safety, without authorizing the use of force.
The war, which began on February 28, has resulted in thousands of casualties in Iran and widespread damage to civilian infrastructure across multiple countries, amid growing warnings from rights groups over potential violations of international humanitarian law.
