Palestinian factions have praised Iran following a temporary ceasefire agreement with the US after 40 days of war, describing the outcome as a failure of US-Israeli objectives and a sign of Iran’s resilience.
Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem said Iran’s “steadfastness broke the will” of what he described as the US-Israeli alliance, stressing that Tehran remains capable of thwarting the goals of the war. He called for greater regional unity against external influence.
Iran’s Supreme National Security Council also declared what it described as a “major victory,” saying US and Israeli forces failed to achieve their military objectives, including weakening Iran’s missile and drone capabilities or imposing surrender.
According to the council, both Washington and Israel realized early in the confrontation that victory was unlikely, prompting efforts to open communication channels and seek a ceasefire.
The developments came as Palestinian groups welcomed the truce, which was reached early Wednesday for an initial two-week period, raising expectations of a broader diplomatic track.
The Islamic Jihad Movement said Iran had forced its adversaries to accept a ceasefire on its terms, adding that the shift from threats to negotiations reflects the failure of the war.
Meanwhile, the Popular Resistance Committees described the agreement as a “strategic defeat” for the US and Israel, saying the outcome strengthens what it called the “axis of resistance,” including allies such as Hezbollah and groups in Iraq and Yemen.
The factions said the results of the confrontation demonstrate that sustained resistance can achieve political and military gains over time.
