Hamas: Israeli plan to build 34 settlement outposts is part of annexation policy

WEST BANK, (PIC)

The Hamas Movement said that reports revealing the Israeli cabinet’s approval of a plan to build 34 new settlement outposts across the occupied West Bank once again confirm the Israeli policies and crimes aimed at Judaizing Palestinian geography.

In a statement issued Thursday evening, Hamas added that the plan represents a direct implementation of annexation policies and the imposition of facts on the ground, taking advantage of the current regional situation and international distraction.

The Movement stressed that this plan, like other settlement projects, is null and void, will not change the reality on the ground, and will not grant the Israeli occupation any legitimacy. It affirmed that the Palestinian people remain steadfast on their land, committed to their national rights, and will not be deterred by the enemy’s violence and brutality from confronting and thwarting annexation and settlement policies.

Hamas also called on the Arab League, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the United Nations to take urgent action to stop the policies of the Netanyahu government aimed at displacing the Palestinian people and to adopt concrete measures to deter the Israeli occupation and its violations of international law and relevant UN resolutions.

The Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission had revealed earlier on Thursday an Israeli plan to establish 34 new settlement outposts in the northern West Bank and the al-Khalil governorate, describing it as a dangerous escalation in the expansion of the settlement project.

The head of the Commission, Moayad Shaaban, said that the decision, reportedly taken secretly by the Israeli cabinet, represents an unprecedented acceleration in settlement expansion and an attempt to impose irreversible facts on occupied Palestinian land.
