Pakistan’s defense minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif escalated his criticism of Israel, describing its policies as a threat that extends beyond the Middle East, as Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon continue despite a US-Iran ceasefire mediated by Islamabad, which is set to host talks between the two sides on Saturday.
“Israel is evil and a curse on humanity. While peace talks are taking place in Islamabad, genocide is being committed in Lebanon. Innocent civilians are being killed by Israel, first in Gaza, then Iran, and now Lebanon, where bloodshed continues relentlessly,” Asif said in a post on X.
“I hope and pray that those who created this cancerous state on the land of Palestine to get rid of Europe’s Jews burn in hell,” he added.
Asif stressed that the international community must adopt a more decisive position toward what he described as ongoing violations, emphasizing the need to hold those responsible accountable under international law.
His remarks come amid a broader escalation in political rhetoric from several Muslim-majority countries, which have condemned continued Israeli military operations and warned of their mounting human and humanitarian consequences across the region.
