BEIRUT, (PIC)

Israeli airstrikes left at least five people dead and dozens wounded after targeting towns and villages in the districts of Tyre, Marjayoun, and Bint Jbeil in southern Lebanon, according to the National News Agency.

Israeli helicopters also opened heavy machinegun fire towards the town of Khiyam, amid intensive artillery shelling.

The Khiyam municipality urged residents to remain indoors and avoid open areas amid ongoing Israeli attacks.

Overnight and dawn air raids also targeted other towns of southern Lebanon, with no reported casualties.

In response, Hezbollah announced the launch of rocket and drone counterattacks on Israeli military sites and settlements in northern 1948 Occupied Palestine.

Hezbollah had already issued 37 military communiqués on Saturday detailing its strikes against Israeli forces and sites.
