The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) displaced another Jerusalemite family on Sunday after forcing it to demolish its own home in the district of Silwan, south of the Aqsa Mosque, under the pretext of unlicensed construction.
The owner, Mahmoud al-Tawil, lived with his wife and four kids in the house, which had been built about 10 years ago.
Despite already being fined nearly 120,000 shekels by the Israeli municipality for building the house without permits, the property was nevertheless demolished, rendering the family homeless.
Yesterday, the IOA forced Mohamed Quwaider and three brothers from the al-Tahan family to demolish their own homes in Silwan, displacing their families.
Palestinian families in the occupied territories have no choice but to build on their own lands without licenses because there are no structural maps that respond to the natural increase in their numbers.
The IOA also imposes building restrictions on them and makes it hard for them to obtain construction permits.
