Mohammad Darwish, head of Hamas’s leadership council, congratulated Iraq’s newly elected president, Nizar Mohammad Saeed Amidi, on his election as President of the Republic of Iraq, expressing his best wishes for success in his duties.
In a statement on Monday, Darwish said Amidi’s election represents an important step toward strengthening stability and national unity in Iraq, reflecting the confidence he enjoys among representatives of the Iraqi people, as well as his political experience.
He affirmed Hamas’s pride in the deep fraternal and historical ties between the Palestinian and Iraqi peoples, stressing the importance of Iraq’s continued support for the Palestinian cause.
Darwish called for strengthening this support in ways that contribute to achieving the aspirations of the Palestinian people for freedom, independence, and return, concluding with prayers for Iraq’s further progress and prosperity.
