Member of Hamas’s political bureau Mousa Abu Marzouk has accused the Israeli occupation regime and the US administration of failing to honor the signed agreements over the Gaza Strip, stressing that “this came as no surprise.”
In recent press remarks to Al-Araby al-Jadeed, Abu Marzouk noted that his Movement continues to engage in talks with various Palestinian factions in an effort to forge a unified stance on the proposals currently under discussion.
Abu Marzouk affirmed that Hamas fulfilled all its obligations under the first phase of the ceasefire agreement. “We handed over all living soldiers and the bodies of Israeli captives, at a time when Israel did not expect the return of all its prisoners.”
Abu Marzouk also criticized the current negotiation trajectory, saying that the current proposals on the table nullify prior agreements and largely accommodate Israeli demands.
Abu Marzouk added that these proposals were “practically drafted inside Netanyahu’s office,” ignoring what was included in the Sharm El-Sheikh agreement and US president Donald Trump’s plan.
He argued that the current negotiations over Gaza lack fair foundations and instead aim to impose Israeli demands in a new guise.
The Hamas official emphasized that any discussion over the resistance’s weapons before Israel fully honors its commitments “effectively prolongs the war through different means,” adding that this issue depends on ending the Israeli aggression, ensuring that Palestinians live with dignity, and securing their political rights, mainly the establishment of a Palestinian state.
He called on mediators to pressure Israel to fulfill its commitments and allow the administrative committee to enter the Gaza Strip to start its work, reiterating the Hamas’s keenness on alleviating the suffering of its people in Gaza.
