The Hamas Movement on Sunday condemned Israel’s continued targeting of police personnel in the Gaza Strip, saying the policy is part of systematic attempts to undermine social stability and spread chaos.
In a press statement, the Movement described the killing of the head of investigations for Khan Yunis police as a “cowardly and criminal act,” accusing Israel of deliberately targeting the police system.
Hamas said the ongoing attacks are intended to maintain a state of lawlessness and sabotage efforts aimed at restoring normal life and providing services to residents amid the difficult conditions in Gaza.
The Movement also revealed updated figures on casualties resulting from Israeli attacks since the latest ceasefire agreement took effect, saying that more than 850 Palestinians have been killed since last October.
Hamas renewed its call on the international community, particularly mediators and parties guaranteeing the agreement, to urgently intervene to stop the ongoing Israeli offensive and to work toward providing international protection and humanitarian relief for the Palestinian people.
