Khalil al Hayya, head of Hamas in Gaza, on Monday received a phone call from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who extended condolences over the martyrdom of al Hayya’s fourth son, Azzam. The call coincided with a visit by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan to the Hamas leader in his office in Doha.

President Erdoğan expressed solidarity with al Hayya, his family, and the Palestinian people. Foreign Minister Fidan also conveyed condolences to al Hayya in Doha, praising the resilience, sacrifices, and extraordinary patience of the Palestinian people.

Al Hayya, for his part, voiced appreciation for the call and visit, stressing that Israel’s crimes against the Palestinian people only strengthen their resolve to uphold their rights and principles.

He added, “My son, like tens of thousands of our people, was martyred as a result of Israel’s ongoing aggression.”

“There should be an immediate end to the occupation’s crimes and its daily killings of our people,” al-Hayya affirmed.
