Hamas: Board of Peace report contains fallacies and ignores Israeli violations

GAZA, (PIC)

The Hamas Movement has rejected the Board of Peace’s report to the UN Security Council, saying it misrepresented facts by absolving Israel of responsibility for ceasefire violations in the Gaza Strip.

“We reject the report submitted by the Board of Peace to the UN Security Council, which contained multiple inaccuracies and fallacies absolving the Israeli government of responsibility for its daily violations of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza. The report also overlooked Israel’s obstruction of the agreement by refusing to honor its commitments, insisting on breaching them, and focusing instead on the issue of disarmament,” Hamas said in a statement on Tuesday.

“The claim that Hamas is the obstacle to Gaza’s reconstruction is false and a distortion of reality. Such accusation overlooks Israel’s failure to honor most of its commitments, its ongoing restrictions at border crossings, and its prevention of shelter materials and essential equipment from entering Gaza to repair critical infrastructure, with the aim of obstructing recovery,” Hamas explained.

“Contrary to the report’s claim that Hamas refuses to relinquish control of the Gaza Strip, the Movement has repeatedly affirmed its readiness to hand over Gaza’s administration to the National Committee. It has consistently called for the committee to be allowed entry and empowered to assume its duties, while Israel continues to block its arrival in Gaza to take up responsibilities,” the Movement said.

“Hamas urges the Board of Peace and its representative, Nickolay Mladenov, not to adopt Israel’s narrative and to press it to fulfill its commitments under the first stage of the agreement, especially with regard to the need to curb its daily aggression against Palestinians in Gaza.”
