Hamas slams Somaliland’s plan to normalize ties with Israel, open embassy in O. Jerusalem

The Hamas Movement has strongly denounced the government of the separatist “Somaliland” region for its insistence on normalizing relations with the Israeli occupation regime and planning to open an embassy in Jerusalem.

In a statement issued Wednesday, Hamas described the Somaliland government’s intended steps as a “glaring attack on the Palestinian people’s rights” and an endorsement of the Zionist Judaization projects targeting the Palestinian land and holy sites.”

“These unacceptable steps constitute a breach of the Arab and Islamic consensus supporting Palestinian rights, and serve only to encourage the occupation to continue its growing crimes and aggression against our people, land, and sanctities,” Hamas stressed.

Hamas called on the Somaliland regime to immediately retract its shameful trajectory of normalization and to refrain from granting “the fascist Zionist entity any political or moral cover.”

The Movement urged the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to take immediate and deterrent measures to prevent Somaliland from pursuing such steps, and to work towards providing political and diplomatic protection for Jerusalem and other occupied Palestinian territories.
