The Hamas Movement called Wednesday for stronger support for Palestinians in occupied Jerusalem, warning that escalating Israeli violations at the Aqsa Mosque reflect a religious war and a broader plan to Judaize the city and its holy sites.
Haroun Nasser al-Din, a member of Hamas’s political bureau and head of its Jerusalem affairs office, said the repeated storming of the Aqsa Mosque by Israeli officials, most recently Knesset national security committee chairman Zvika Fogel, exposes the scale of Israeli plans targeting the Mosque and Palestinian Islamic holy sites.
Nasser al-Din said the escalating attacks on the Aqsa Mosque would not alter its Islamic identity or religious status, nor would they deter Palestinians from defending it against Judaization and partition plans.
He also warned of systematic Israeli efforts to impose full sovereignty over occupied Jerusalem through raids, assaults and restrictions targeting the city’s towns and refugee camps, including the ongoing Israeli measures in Hizma town.
Hamas urged Palestinians to intensify their presence at the Aqsa Mosque, defend its sanctity and strengthen the steadfastness of Jerusalem’s residents.
