Hazem Qassem, spokesperson for Hamas Movement, said that the request by Nikolay Mladenov, the so called High Representative of the “Peace Council” in Gaza, for the UN Security Council to pressure Hamas by all means to fulfill its commitments, represents a continuation of adopting the Israeli vision and an attempt to provide justifications for the Israeli escalation against the people of Gaza and tightening the blockade on them.
Qassem added in a press statement on Thursday that Mladenov’s continued talk about increasing aid contradicts the reality, which shows that Israel is persisting in restricting the entry of aid and re engineering a policy of starvation.
He affirmed Hamas’s commitment to the ceasefire agreement despite the Israeli ongoing violations, and stressed that Hamas is ready to immediately and fully hand over governance to the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza.
