Jewish settlers storm W. Bank areas, vandalize property and trees

WEST BANK, (PIC)

Jewish settler groups resumed their assaults in various areas of the West Bank last night and on Sunday morning, under the protection of the Israeli occupation forces (IOF), targeting Palestinian property and trees.

According to media sources, a horde of extremist settlers vandalized, for the fifth time, the memorial of Sheikh Martyr Suleiman al-Haddalin in the village of Umm al-Khair in Masafer Yatta.

In Nablus, settlers stormed the village of Awarta, southeast of the city, with no reported violent practices.

In al-Khalil, settlers swarmed the Old City under heavy protection from Israeli forces, in a provocative move that occurs almost daily and is often accompanied by restrictions on Palestinian residents and closures of entrances and markets in the area.

At dawn Sunday, settlers attacked the town of Kifl Haris, north of Salfit, attacking citizens’ property in a new escalation targeting the town and its residents.

The Kifl Haris municipality reported that a group of settlers stormed neighborhoods of the town at dawn, attacking several homes and smashing the windows of vehicles, causing material damage to property.

The same source added that settlers also attempted to set fire to al-Haqq Mosque in the town.

Another horde of settlers cut down and damaged 40 old-growth olive trees in the Wadi al-Sha‘er area, south of Salfit. The olive grove belongs to Nashaat Shtayyeh.

Shtayyeh reported that settlers from a new illegal outpost established about a month ago in the area stormed his agricultural land in Wadi al-Sha‘er and wreaked havoc on dozens of olive trees, each more than 100 years old, causing severe damage to the grove and its harvest.
