In light of a recent report confirming Israeli acts of genocide in the Gaza Strip, the international community, comprising states and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), now stands confronted with the verdict of history as they are called to make the right decisions and act in accordance with international and humanitarian law, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said.

“The Zionist regime’s crime of genocide against the Palestinians has now been confirmed and clearly stipulated by the UN special rapporteur,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani wrote on X Thursday. “National governments and international political and legal associations and institutions now face the judgment of not only world public opinion but also history. Will they fulfill their human, legal and historical responsibility?” Kanaani said.

This comes after Francesca Albanese, UN special rapporteur on the rights situation in the Palestinian territories, announced that there was sufficient evidence suggesting that “Israel” has engaged in multiple instances of “genocide” and “ethnic cleansing” in the Gaza Strip.

On Tuesday, Albanese submitted a report titled “Anatomy of a genocide” in which she details the many violations committed by the Israeli regime under the International Genocide Convention.

“I find that there are reasonable grounds to believe that the threshold indicating the commission of the crime of genocide against Palestinians as a group in Gaza has been met,” Albanese told reporters on March 25.

“I implore member states to abide by their obligations, which start with imposing an arms embargo and sanctions on Israel and so ensure that the future does not continue to repeat itself,” she said.

On March 24, Albanese said that the amount of crimes committed by the Israeli regime could keep the International Criminal Court (ICC) busy for the next 50 years.
