On April 13, the IRGC’s Aerospace Force, in collaboration with several other units of the Iranian Armed Forces, launched a wide-ranging attack that utilized drones, cruise missiles, and several types of ballistic missiles, in response to the malicious Israeli attack on the country’s embassy in Damascus, Syria.

The Israeli attack occurred on April 1 and was conducted via American-supplied F-35 stealth fighter jets which likely took off from the “Nevatim” Air Base in occupied Palestine’s al-Naqab desert. As such, the IRGC’s response targeted the aforementioned air base, as well as a number of strategic Israeli military sites and positions.

In a phone conversation held Tuesday at Tehran’s initiative, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi informed Russian President Vladimir Putin that the Islamic Republic was forced to retaliate against “Israel” due to the destructive actions of the United Nations, the US, and other Western countries.

“The destructive role of the US and a number of other Western countries, as well as the inaction and ineffectiveness of international institutions, including the UN and the Security Council, in dealing with Israel’s aggressive actions in connection with the attack on the Iranian consulate in Syria forced Iran to take action and exercise its right of self-defense based on Article 51 of the UN Charter,” Raisi said, as quoted in a statement posted on the presidency’s website.
