A Hebrew University professor was detained on charges of incitement for challenging reported crimes, including rape, during Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, and for asserting that Israelis are “criminals” who “should be afraid,” as per Israeli media.

Israeli police officers detained Nadera Shalhoub-Kevorkian, a criminology and law professor, for questioning at a police station in the occupied al-Quds.

Shalhoub-Kevorkian, a senior lecturer at the University, faced suspension following her participation in a March 9 interview on the podcast Makdisi Street. During the interview, she advocated for the raised doubts about the reported rapes and other atrocities attributed to Palestinian Resistance.

Hadash MK Ofer Cassif strongly condemned the investigation of Shalhoub-Kevorkian, asserting that police “arrested Shalhoub-Kevorkian solely because of her statements……. Her statement that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza is a legitimate statement, and would only be considered forbidden in a dictatorial regime.”

On his part, Elchanan Felhaimer, the chair of the “National Union of Israeli Students,” welcomed the arrest and said he hoped it would influence how academics express themselves on hot topics, clearly calling for censorship.

Israeli hypocrisy

Numerous Israeli and US officials have sought to defame the Palestinian Resistance by reporting on unverified information, which alleged that Hamas raped and beheaded babies, claims that went on to become viral, as did their debunking.

Mainstream Western media and US politicians remain absent-minded to the extensive crimes carried out by the Israeli occupation against Palestinians and civilians, specifically children in the region.

The Ministry of Health in Gaza announced in its daily report today that the number of Palestinians killed in Gaza due to the Israeli genocide since October 7 has now reached 33,970, with 76,770 injured.

In short, once again, the West, as it did with the thousands of videos and photos of mutilated and murdered Palestinian children in Gaza, ignored the many red flags surrounding the claim that the Palestinian Resistance raped Israeli women or killed babies during Operation Al-Aqsa Flood.
