Massive demonstrations in Tehran in support of Gaza, Iran’s response

The Iranian capital Tehran witnessed Friday massive demonstrations in rejection of the Israeli sabotage operations that targeted the country and in support of the Resistance and solidarity with Gaza and the Palestinian people.

The demonstrators expressed their support for Iran’s Operation True Promise which came in retaliation to the Israeli aggression that targeted the Iranian consulate in Syria on April 1.

Earlier on Friday, Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi stressed that Operation True Promise reflected the Iranian people’s power, unity, and iron will.

He affirmed that all segments of the people and all political currents unanimously agree that Iran’s retaliatory attack against Israeli targets “has strengthened the power and prowess of the Islamic Republic.”

Raisi’s comments came shortly after Western media reported an Israeli strike that targeted the Iranian city of Isfahan, though he did not mention the operation.

Iran’s Space Agency confirmed that several drones, of unspecified origin, were downed over Iranian airspace, noting that no missile attack on Iran occurred on Friday.

The Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) said that short-range and medium-range Iranian air defense batteries repelled the attack.

Sources told Al Mayadeen that Iranian air defenses repelled a relatively small drone attack in Tabriz and Isfahan, which was likely launched domestically. 

Iranian sources pointed out that complicit United States media outlets are waging a proxy war of disinformation on behalf of the Israeli occupation.
