Hamas: Israel must fulfill its first-phase obligations over Gaza

GAZA, (PIC)

The Hamas Movement has called for pressuring the Israeli occupation government to honor its obligations under the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement in order to pave the way for serious talks on issues related to the second phase.

In a statement on Sunday, Hamas said its delegation held a series of meetings and discussions last week in Cairo with mediators and several Palestinian factions over the implementation of the first phase of the Sharm el-Sheikh agreement.

Hamas explained that these renewed efforts started amid Israel’s reluctance to uphold most of its obligations under the agreement and its daily ceasefire violations in Gaza.

Hamas affirmed that it had engaged “positively” in these talks, reiterating its keenness to continue its communication and coordination with mediators to reach an acceptable deal based on the initiative of US president Donald Trump and the Sharm El-Sheikh agreement.

The Movement added that any agreement must include the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the entire Gaza Strip and the launch of a reconstruction process.
