The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) approved on Wednesday the construction of 126 illegal settlement units in Jenin in the northern West Bank, the Hebrew media reported.
“20 years after its evacuation, a plan has been approved to build 126 permanent homes in Sanur settlement,” Israel’s Channel 12 said.
The approval marks a renewed effort to expand settlement activity in occupied Palestinian areas evacuated under Israel’s 2005 disengagement plan.
Yossi Dagan, head of the regional council of West Bank settlements, declared that Sanur “will be rebuilt,” adding that it “will include 126 permanent homes and, in the future, become a city in Israel.”
In May 2025, the Israeli political-security cabinet decided to reestablish the illegal settlement of Sanur, which was evacuated in 2005.
Its reestablishment has been legalized following legislative amendments by the current Israeli government to the disengagement law, including the removal of restrictions on Israeli presence in parts of the northern occupied West Bank.
