A young Palestinian man, Ibrahim al-Khayyat, was killed on Wednesday evening after succumbing to injuries sustained from Israeli gunfire during a raid on al-Khalil in the southern West Bank.
According to local sources, al-Khayyat had earlier been shot with live ammunition in the al-Hawooz area, near the Islamic Charitable Society building, during a large-scale incursion carried out by Israeli forces using numerous military vehicles. The raid included the closure of the main road and forcing shop owners to shut down amid heavy live fire and the use of tear gas.
The Palestinian Red Crescent reported that two civilians were injured by Israeli gunfire and another was arrested during the raid on al-Khalil.
Israeli forces deployed heavily in the al-Hawooz area, blocking the main road and firing live rounds and tear gas at residents, resulting in two people being shot in the thigh and knee. Both were transferred to the hospital for treatment. During the operation, Israeli forces also raided and searched the headquarters of the Islamic Charitable Society.
In southern al-Khalil, a Palestinian man was injured after being assaulted by settlers in Masafer Yatta. The area also witnessed the detention of several residents, including Randa Makhamera and Shahada Makhamera, as they attempted to prevent settlers from stealing their family’s livestock in Maghayir al-Abeed.
Israeli forces also demolished a home and property in the Barouq area, east of Masafer Yatta. Local sources stated that the house belonged to Ibrahim Mohammed Makhamera and sheltered ten people. A water well was also destroyed during the demolition.
Across various parts of the West Bank on Wednesday, Israeli forces carried out a series of raids, arrests, and assaults, resulting in multiple injuries and the detention of several Palestinians.
In al-Khalil, the Israeli forces detained a number of Palestinians, including a young woman, in the Maghayir al-Abeed area, where they were reportedly mistreated. A house in the Jabal Johar area was also seized and converted into a military outpost, with furniture brought in and an Israeli flag raised over it.
In a related development, Israeli forces raided the al-Hawooz area again, closing the main street, restricting movement, and forcing businesses to shut before surrounding and searching a charitable organization. Clashes left a teenage boy injured by live fire near a religious school.
Meanwhile, the settlers attacked several shops in the al-Sahla area near the old central market (“al-Hisba”), smashing doors and ransacking contents in an area that has remained largely closed since the Ibrahimi Mosque massacre in 1994.
In Ramallah, Israeli forces fired live ammunition during a raid on the village of Abu Qash north of the city, raising tensions in the area.
In Tubas, Israeli forces arrested Mohammad Hazem Naji al-Masri from the town of Aqaba after summoning him for questioning at Salem military camp.
