The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) released Palestinian prisoner Ibrahim al‑Qadi, a 22-year-old from al-Khalil, after he had spent 22 months in detention.
He was discharged from the infirmary of Ramla jail before being transferred to the Istishari Hospital in Ramallah, according to the Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS).
PPS said that al‑Qadi endured harsh and dire conditions during his imprisonment and suffered a sudden deterioration in his health in recent months, when he was diagnosed with cancer.
PPS added that a court session was held for him on Tuesday and ended with a decision to release him.
PPS said that al‑Qadi is one of thousands of sick prisoners in Israeli jails, who face physical and psychological destruction within a structural system of torture.
PPS highlighted that the health conditions of released prisoners reflect the scale of violations inside Israeli prisons, citing hundreds of testimonies documenting torture, starvation, medical crimes, and assaults, which have led to the deaths of more than 100 prisoners and detainees.
PPS also pointed out that most of the released prisoners are transferred directly to hospitals in the occupied West Bank due to their difficult health conditions, adding that many died shortly afterward, while others underwent multiple surgeries.
