The Hamas Movement announced its full commitment, alongside other Palestinian resistance factions, to all provisions of the Sharm el-Sheikh ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, including the scheduled handover of prisoners and bodies according to the agreed timetable, despite the challenges caused by the massive destruction across the territory.
In a statement issued Friday, the Movement said the Israeli government had failed to uphold its commitments and continued military operations under the cover of the agreement. Hamas said that the daily violations, including attacks targeting civilians, among them women and children, reflect an ongoing escalation.
The Movement added that the tightening siege and starvation policies, along with the continued closure of the Rafah crossing or its limited opening and the westward movement of the so-called “yellow line” in several areas, indicate that the government of Benjamin Netanyahu is evading its obligations and undermining mediation efforts.
Hamas further said that the continuation of these violations despite the signing of the agreement amounts to an extension of the war on the Gaza Strip and deepens an already severe humanitarian and legal crisis affecting more than two million Palestinians living under siege and harsh conditions.
The Movement called on mediators and guarantor states to take a clear and firm position regarding these violations and to work toward ensuring implementation of the agreement’s terms in a way that compels the Israeli government to honor its commitments and puts an end to the escalation and humanitarian suffering in Gaza.
