The Hamas Movement has strongly denounced the strike that targeted the son of Hamas leader Khalil al-Hayya, Azzam, calling it a “cowardly Israeli crime.”
In a statement on Thursday, Hamas described this as “part of Israel’s failed attempts to break the resistance’s will and undermine its political positions through terror, killing, and psychological pressure.”
Hamas said that the contradicting Israeli narratives about the strike reveal the size of confusion within the Israeli occupation government.
It stressed that the attack clearly reflected an effort to exert pressure on the resistance leadership and its negotiating team after the Israeli occupation failed to achieve its declared objectives on the ground.
Hamas pointed out that Israel had already carried out a “treacherous assassination attempt” targeting Khalil al-Hayya and the negotiating delegation in Doha, killing a number of people, including his son Hammam and Qatari citizens.
“The Palestinian people, who have offered tens of thousands of martyrs, will not allow the Israeli occupation to use the blood of their families as a tool of political blackmail,” Hamas said.
“These crimes will not push the Palestinian negotiator to retreat from his national principles or renounce his people’s rights and their demands for ending the aggression, lifting the siege, and achieving a full withdrawal from the Gaza Strip,” the Movement added.
