IOF kidnaps three brothers fishing near Gaza

GAZA, (PIC)

The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) kidnaped three brothers while they were fishing off the coast of Gaza on Monday morning.

Zakariya Bakr, head of the fishermen’s union in Gaza, said that gunboats intercepted the fishermen’s boat and took them to an unknown location, adding that the detained fishermen are Saeed, Muaad, and Mohamed Abu Rayala.

Bakr noted that they were kidnaped while doing their daily job within the limited sea zone permitted for fishing.

Such incidents form part of a systematic pattern of violations against Gaza’s fishermen, exacerbating the already difficult living conditions of their families.

Hundreds of families in Gaza rely on fishing as a primary source of income, but ongoing Israeli restrictions and repeated targeting of fishermen have led to declining fish production and rising poverty among those working in this vital sector.
