Hamas calls for int’l action against Israeli decision to start executing Palestinian prisoners

WEST BANK, (PIC)

The Hamas Movement has condemned Israeli war minister Israel Katz’s order to begin implementing a newly passed death penalty law against Palestinian prisoners, calling it a “dangerous escalation.”

In a statement on Monday, Hamas described Katz’s directive as “part of the Israeli occupation’s organized crime and terrorism policy used against the Palestinian people.”

Hamas said that “this cowardly and criminal decision will not dissuade the Palestinian people from continuing their legitimate struggle and resistance in defense of their land and holy sites.”

“The Palestinian people have proven, throughout decades of confrontation with the Israeli occupation, that policies of terror and assassination, and threats of execution will only strengthen their commitment to their rights and reinforce their determination to resist and confront colonial and Judaization projects,” the Movement underlined.

It urged the international community, the UN, and all human rights and legal institutions to shoulder their responsibilities and use all means to pressure the Israeli government to revoke “this racist and invalid decision.”
