A Palestinian man was martyred after he was shot dead by a Jewish settler near the settlement outpost of “Emek Doron,” built on Palestinian land near the town of Deir Istiya, west of Salfit in the West Bank. Israeli media claimed that he attempted to carry out a stabbing attack.
The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) confirmed the killing, stating that their troops arrived at the scene after receiving a report of a suspected stabbing attempt.
According to Israeli accounts, the Palestinian man approached the site and spoke in Arabic with several settlers. He was reportedly asked to leave but did not comply, after which he allegedly brandished a knife. A settler then opened fire, wounding him fatally.

The incident comes amid heightened tensions across the northern West Bank, where the IOF intensified military measures around the city of Qalqilya earlier in the day.
Witnesses said Israeli forces set up a military checkpoint at the southern entrance of the city, blocking movement in and out, while the eastern entrance was closed with an iron gate. Additional checkpoints were established to inspect those entering, causing severe traffic congestion.
In a related development, Israeli forces raided the agricultural area of “Al-Hasamis” east of Qalqilya, disrupting farmers’ work, detaining and interrogating them.
Israeli military vehicles also conducted patrols in the town of Azzun and the village of Asla, and were deployed along the Qalqilya–Nablus road, though no arrests were reported.
The killing and subsequent restrictions underscore the continued escalation across the occupied West Bank, as tensions remain high amid ongoing IOF raids and settler attacks.
