The number of Palestinian women in Israeli jails has surged to 90 prisoners as of April 2026, according to the Palestine Information Center (Mo’ta).
In a statement released on Wednesday, Mo’ta explained that most Palestinian female prisoners are held in Damon jail, including two minors and one woman who is three months pregnant, describing the humanitarian conditions inside the facility as “sensitive.”
Among the female prisoners are 25 held under administrative detention without trial or indictment, in addition to three journalists and two women suffering from cancer.
Two women have been in jail since even before the Israeli genocidal war on Gaza started, according to Mo’ta.
Mo’ta pointed to the absence of accurate statistics on the number of women kidnaped by Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip.
