Same Event, Different Framing

Press Coverage Tracker: How the Same Story Gets Told Differently

Word choice shapes perception. This page compares how mainstream Western outlets frame major events versus independent and Palestinian outlets covering the same story -- so you can see the gap for yourself.

How to read this page: Each comparison shows the same underlying event covered by two different types of outlets. Pay attention to passive vs. active language ("died" vs. "killed"), who is named as the actor, and what context is included or omitted. These choices are not neutral -- they shape how readers understand who did what to whom.

Topic: [Event Name and Date]
Mainstream Outlet
[Paraphrase the headline/framing in your own words]
Note what's emphasized: passive language, lack of named actor, or framing that centers Israeli government statements as the primary source.
Independent / Palestinian Outlet
[Paraphrase the headline/framing in your own words]
Note what's different: active language naming the actor, inclusion of Palestinian testimony, or additional context about preceding events.
